We are on the hunt for the right Head of Engineering to help us grow and reach our potential. This is a leadership role accountable for the oversight of Media Suite’s technical strategy, the successful delivery & support of software projects and growing an epic NZ based team.

The business needs you to be a strategic thinker who can hold and articulate a clear vision and direction for software development at Media Suite. We’ll be relying on you to lead and manage the software development process and oversee multiple teams to deliver software, infrastructure and architecture that meets the needs of our partners. You’ll also need a keen eye for what’s happening in the market, how we’re tracking against our business objectives and what is needed to serve our evolving go-to-market strategies.

About you:

Some of the practical day-to-day things you can expect to be doing:

  • Leading and managing a growing team for success (currently 16). 

  • Coaching and mentoring key relationships across the development team.

  • Working with technology and project leads to navigate software & delivery challenges.

  • Working with our technology Guilds to improve how we work and guide the right platform & investment choices.

  • Identifying and implementing technology trends that will be able to support the future success of the business.

  • Articulating to colleagues & partners the company’s technological vision, opportunities, and challenges.

  • Ensuring delivery is consistent with Agile processes across the team.

  • Working with our Partner Outcome Managers to shape up new work, respond to RFPs and support technical pre-sales needs.

  • Troubleshooting with your delivery colleagues to ensure the right people and projects are lining up at the right time.

  • Ensuring that technology standards and best practices are maintained. 

  • Working with our support & operations team. 

  • Making sure we are continuing to hire and onboard great people.


Skills, Experience & Education:

Obviously you’ll have relevant professional experience and be able to tell us about how your experience makes you uniquely suited to this role. Ideally, we expect you will have  spent time in the trenches and can call on around a decade of relevant experience leading successful teams, be technically fluent in software product formulation with extensive experience using frameworks based on JavaScript, Web technologies and databases.
